Longitudinally Welded Line Pipes (SAWL)

High-strength, heavy-wall longitudinally welded pipes for energy transmission

Longitudinally welded line pipes (SAWL) are steel pipes engineered for energy transmission lines requiring high pressure ratings and heavy wall thickness. They are manufactured to API 5L PSL1–PSL2 GRA through X80(M) grades, meeting CSA Z245.1 category I, II, and III requirements.

Available in outside diameters of 610 mm to 1,524 mm (24″–60″) and wall thicknesses of 9.5 mm to 38.1 mm (up to 1.5″), SAWL pipes deliver high strength up to X80/L555 and sour service resistance up to X70/L485. Double jointing allows pipe lengths of up to 80 feet (24 m).

With FBE and ARO outer coating and flow-coat epoxy inner lining options, these pipes provide long-lasting performance under demanding geological and chemical conditions.

Applications

  • High-pressure natural gas and oil main lines
  • Energy transmission in sour service (H2S-containing) environments
  • Large-diameter water transmission lines
  • Overseas and cross-continental pipeline projects
